Do you have a passion for training? Would you like to play a lead role in evolving and growing a portfolio of programs?

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the nation's largest and most dynamic nonprofit civil engineering association, is currently searching for a director of continuing education, responsible for identifying new programs and courses to meet the needs of practicing civil engineers.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Leading market research and needs assessments to identify customers' needs and preferences for future programming, in the context of the current and evolving market landscape
  • Developing and testing new programming ideas with appropriate internal ASCE groups, subject matter experts and target audience
  • Recruiting and managing subject matter experts
  • Developing and maintaining a new content roadmap with input from staff and SMEs
  • Overseeing the development and execution of new courses and programs; evaluating and recommending updates or sunsetting existing courses and programs
  • Managing and facilitating the professional growth of direct reports
  • Providing input during budget preparations and managing approved program budgets
  • Ensuring compliance with the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of professional work experience with progressive responsibilities, including managing staff, vendors, and SMEs
  • Experience in instructional design with place-based and online programs, including stacking programs into learning pathways - current knowledge of the adult learning landscape
  • A track record of innovation, generating and vetting ideas, and conducting experiments
  • Subject matter expertise in engineering and/or experience working with engineers and engineering content
  • Work experience in associations and/or not-for-profit entities
  • Outstanding time management, organizational, and communications skills, with ability to facilitate and participate in a "team" environment within and across departments
